ON THE RECORD
- "Today was a really exciting day for the team, the seniors, and our boat," senior Sarah Donaldson of the Varsity Eight said. "The season so far has been a lot of hard work and dedication on all our parts. We knew today's races would be difficult, but we all wanted to win, so we're really happy with the outcome. In our boat, we have five graduating seniors, and knowing that today was our last race on the Schuylkill, I am so glad we were able to execute and perform the way we wanted to."
- "That was one of the most eventful races we've ever had," senior Delaney Denegar of the Second Varsity Eight said. "We hit the log, but we made an amazing comeback. I think the race showed our crew's perseverance, and I'm so proud of the work we put in today."
- "The best feeling is getting off the course and being so proud of our race and our team while repping Delaware across our chests," senior Meghan Rogers of the Varsity Four said.
- "From the first stroke, it felt like we were flying," junior Julia Moller of the Second Varsity Four said.
- "It's an indescribable feeling to see all the work we've put in play out on the course," fifth-year Camryn Harris of the Third Varsity Eight said. "I'm so grateful for the team and the opportunity to race in my final year."
- "I was just so happy to cross the finish line for the first time ever," freshman Jaime Kraus of the Fourth Varsity Eight said. "Safe to say I've been bit by the rowing bug!"
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Varsity Eight jumped off the line and sat bow to stern. They broke open water around the first 500m mark and built a commanding lead through the body of the race. UD opened the gap further during the sprint to finish with one length of open water.
- The start of the Second Varsity Eight race was very competitive between the two boats as the Blue Hens were up by one length at the halfway point. During the race, there was a tree log submerged in Delaware's lane at 1100m, which it collided with, causing a stoppage. Temple stepped ahead to a length lead at the time of the delay with 900m to go, but the Blue & Gold picked it up and pushed through the second half of the race, getting back to even by 700m. From there, the Hens took back the lead through the last 500m to finish with two seats of open water.
- The Varsity Four got off the line quickly and held a considerable lead throughout the race. They gained more open water through the sprint to finish several lengths of open water ahead of Temple.
- The Second Varsity Four flew off the line and led by open water from start to finish.
- The Third Varsity Eight and Fourth Varsity Eight each raced the Owls' Third Varsity Eight.
- Delaware's Third Varsity Eight held off Temple's strong start and got an open water lead on in the first 500m. For the rest of the race, they found more speed and open water, battling Delaware's Fourth Varsity Eight to the finish line.
- The Blue Hens' Fourth Varsity Eight had a good start and battled down the course. The strongest part of the race was the third 500, showing a lot of confidence, followed by a big closing 500 to keep themselves half a length up on Temple.
