NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Director of Golf Patty Post has announced the addition of Isabel Amezcua to the women's golf coaching staff as an assistant coach. Amezcua, a former WGCA All-American at North Carolina State University, will officially assume the role on September 5.
"I am so excited to welcome Isabel Amezcua to the Blue Hens family as our new assistant coach for women's golf," Post said. "Her experience competing at the highest level as a student-athlete at NC State, combined with her passion for mentoring young players, makes her a tremendous asset to our program. We look forward to the impact she'll have on our team's growth and continued success, both on and off the course."
Amezcua joins the Blue Hens after spending the 2024-25 season as the director of operations for the men's and women's golf programs at her alma mater. With the Wolfpack, Amezcua assisted in hosting three home tournaments as the official in-charge. She was responsible for setting up team practices and drills while also analyzing player stats to make recommendations to the coaching staff.
Outside of collegiate golf, Amezcua interned with the Carolinas Golf Association during the summer of 2024, helping prepare and run tournaments throughout the summer while also serving as a rules official during tournament play. Since 2021, she has worked at the Sykes Golf Summer Camp in Raleigh, N.C., helping grow the sport through the youth levels through mentorship and golf instruction.
Amezcua enjoyed a successful four-year golf career at NC State as a student-athlete from 2020-24. She finished her career with the fifth-best career scoring average (74.87) and seventh-most career rounds played (106). Amezcua played in three NCAA Regional Championships and one NCAA Championship. She was a WGCA Scholar All-American (2021) and two-time All-ACC Academic Team (2023-24) recipient.
Originally from Mexico City, Mexico, Amezcua graduated from NC State with a bachelor's degree in communications in May 2024.
"I want to give a huge thanks to Patty Post for believing in me and giving me this opportunity," Amezcua said. "I am thrilled to be a part of the legacy that Patty has created, and I can't wait to get started and help us get to the next level. Go Hens!"
The Blue Hens are set to open the 2025-26 season this weekend when it travels south for the Golfweek Fall Challenge (Sep. 7-9) in Pawleys Island, S.C. Delaware returns four of its top six scorers from a season ago when the team recorded six top-five finishes, including two victories. UD has added three talented newcomers and will look to compete for its first Conference USA Championship this spring.
