Gruber Breaks Program Record in 3,000-Meters at Penn State National Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens track & field athlete Marie-Theres Gruber broke the program record in the 3,000-meter run at the Penn State National Open on January 31.
Gruber placed seventh overall and ran 9:20.73 in the event. The previous record was held by Tina Caparell, who set the previous record at 9:32.18 back in 2022.
RESULTS
- Rachel Starr was third in the 5,000-meters at 17:17.56. The time ranks ninth all-time in program history.
- Lauren Leath finished fourth in the 400-meters at 55.76. Morgan Mims finished ninth at 56.63, which ranks ninth all-time in program history.
- Leath also finished first in the 500-meters at 1:13.02, which rans second in program history.
- Isabelle Kapoor finished the heptathlon with 3224 points, which is the 6th best in program history.
- Kadence Dumas' time of 2:09.99 was a personal best and ranks third all-time in program history.Â
- The top finishers in the 60-meters (7.83), as well as the long jump (5.52 meters) was Sara Penuela and Jahzara Emeli in the 200-meters (25.31).

The Blue Hens travel to The Bronx, N.Y. to compete in the Rutgers Open on Friday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m.
