Kacy Kapinos joined the University of Delaware men's lacrosse program as an assistant coach during the summer of 2024.
In Kapinos' two years on staff, he has guided three student-athletes to all-conference honors (Scott Conte, OJ Morris, and Colton Silverstein) and one to All-American laurels (OJ Morris).
In 2026, freshman faceoff specialist Scott Conte burst onto the scene, finishing third in the Atlantic 10 in faceoff percentage (.523), highlighted byÂ
a 26 faceoff-win performance, the most in a single game in the country that season and tied for the third most in program history.
At the X, Kapinos helped lead the Delaware unit to the No. 2-ranked faceoff winning percentage (.643) in the country in 2025 and a first-place finish in the CAA in the category. OJ Morris led the CAA in faceoff percentage and No. 2 in the country, reaching as high as No. 1 during the season, (.686) and Logan Premtaj finished third in the league (.563). Morris and Premtaj each improved from 2024, having percentages of .568 and .326, respectively.
Kapinos came to Delaware with over 10 years of coaching experience, from the high school and club levels to the collegiate level, most recently at Lafayette College. While with the Leopards, Kapinos led the faceoff and wing units, scout team defense, and scout man-down while also running the substitution box. His expertise helped Lafayette go from a .440 faceoff percentage in 2023 to .571 in 2024. It was the Leopards' highest faceoff percentage in Lafayette's Patriot League era.
Â
Before his time in Easton, Pa., Kapinos began his coaching career as the head coach of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes lacrosse club. He built a winning program through his ability to instill confidence in his athletes and teaching them how to overcome challenges. During his time with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Kapinos was the assistant coach for Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore. While at Loyola Blakefield, Kapinos implemented and managed skill development for goalie and faceoff units and developed and led pre-practice offensive skill work.
Â
He graduated from Ohio State in December 2016 with a B.S. Health Sciences and a minor in Entrepreneurship. The Baltimore, Md. native was a team captain and defensive midfielder for the Buckeyes. He was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team in 2015, tabbed a two-time scholar-athlete, received the Buckeye Power Club award, and was an ECAC and Big Ten Lacrosse Tournament Champion in 2013.
