Blue Hen Women's Golf Team Ties For Ninth Place at Diane Thomason Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Delaware women's golf squad fired a 309 team score on Sunday, its lowest of the weekend, to move up into a tie for ninth place at the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa.
The Blue Hens, who posted scores of 338 and 322 on Saturday, finished with a three-round total of 969 to tie for ninth place out of 13 teams. Illinois captured the team title with a 917 score, while the host Hawkeyes finished second at 931.
UD freshman Rachel Lee carded an eight over par 80 during Sunday's round on the par 72, 6,142-yard Finkbine Golf Course, finishing in a tie for 32nd place in the individual standings with a 24 over par score of 85-75-80-240.
Junior Vimonthip Benjasupawan fired a five over par 77 during her final round, tying for 41st place with a 26 over par 83-82-77-242. Sophomore Vitoria Teixeira also tied for 41st after carding a four over par 76 on Sunday to finish at 85-81-76-242.
Junior Nathalie Filler tied Teixeira for the low round of the day by a Blue Hen, recording a 76 to finish tied for 63rd place at 88-88-76-252, 36 over par. Sophomore Grace Chua also tied for 63rd as she fired an 83 on Sunday to finish at 85-84-83-252.
Delaware returns to action on October 18-19 when the Blue Hens compete in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Course.
