LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. -- Blue Hen senior Amanda Terzian carded a school-record 69 during Tuesday's final round to finish in fifth place at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational, as the University of Delaware women's golf team concluded its 2014 fall season.
Terzian finished the round at three under par on the par 72, 6,288-yard Lakewood Ranch Golf Course, as she recorded the first round in the 60's in the four-year history of the program. Terzian also shared the previous record of 71, also held by teammates Grace Chua, Annie Bowlsby and Nathalie Filler.
Terzian, who shot a 76 on Sunday and a 72 on Monday, finished with a one over par score of 76-72-69-217, which is also the lowest three-round total in Blue Hen history. She recorded five birdies during Tuesday's round, including four in a tremendous five-hole stretch from the 12th through 16th holes.
Terzian helped Delaware to a fifth place team finish, as the Blue Hens carded a 296 score on Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 903. Memphis paced the 13-team field with an 872 total followed by Daytona State at 879, FIU at 881, Jacksonville at 902, and the Blue Hens.
UD junior Vimonthip Benjasupawan fired her second straight round of 74 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 15th place with a nine over par 77-74-74-225. Benjasupawan birdied 4, 5, 10 and 16 during her day, while adding 10 pars.
Andi SlaneSophomore Vitoria Teixeira fired a four over par 76 during Tuesday's round to tie for 35th place at 80-76-76-232, 16 over par. Teixeira posted her lone birdie of the day on the eighth hole, to go with 13 pars.
Filler carded an 82 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 50th place with a 24 over par score of 83-75-82-240. Filler had birdies on the second and fourth holes during her final round of the tournament.
Blue Hen freshman Rachel Lee, who withdrew from the tournament on Monday, carded an even par 72 on Tuesday while playing as an individual. Lee birdied the fifth and ninth holes while adding 14 pars during the round.
Tiffany Chan of Daytona State took home medalist honors with a seven under par 70-70-69-209 during the invitational.
“This was a very solid way for us to finish out our fall season!” said Blue Hen head coach Patty Post. “I am so proud of Amanda (Terzian) and happy for her tournament finish, as well as for her three-under par round today. Rachel (Lee) also had a great tournament; if it wasn't for a coaching fumble of her scorecard, she also would have had a top 10 finish. The whole team really showed the quality of golf we are capable of today, and we hope to come out in the spring firing just the same.”
The tournament concludes the 2014 fall season for Delaware, which returns to action on Mar. 1-3 when the Blue Hens compete in the Edwin Watts/College of Charleston Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C.
