Erik Dulik, University of Delaware Men's Golfers Finish Second at Season-Opening Navy Fall Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Blue Hen freshman Erik Dulik finished in second place after falling in a sudden death playoff while the University of Delaware men's golf squad also placed second in the team standings as UD opened its 2014 fall season in impressive fashion this weekend at the Navy Fall Classic.
Dulik, who opened with an even par 71 on Saturday, fired a five under par 66 on the par 71, 6,528-yard Naval Academy Course on Sunday, finishing in a tie for first place along with Cole Berman of Georgetown. The two players then squared off in a sudden death playoff, with Berman edging Dulik to earn medalist honors.
Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Dulik tied for the third lowest round in UD history by carding the 66 on Sunday.
Blue Hen junior Kyle Martin posted the best finish of his career, as he fired a four under par 67-71-138 to finish in a tie for third place at at the invitational. Freshman Jack Gianniny was the third UD player to finish among the top 20, tying for 16th place after his four over par score of 75-71-146.
Fellow rookie Kieran Purcell tied for 30th place with a seven over par 75-74-149 while classmate Blaine Lafferty, playing as an individual, carded a 13 over par 75-80-155 to finish tied for 44th place. Senior Fraser Graham, who recorded a 19 over par 82-79-161, ended up tied for 53rd place.
Delaware recorded a 282 team score on Sunday, the only squad in the invitational to post an under par team round. The Blue Hens, who fired a 288 on Saturday, finished at 570 and were just one shot behind tournament champion Seton Hall. Third place Georgetown finished eight shots behind UD at 578, followed by Towson at 581 and Navy at 583.
Mike KeoghDelaware takes next weekend off before participating in the Cornell Fall Invitational at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Ithaca, N.Y. on Sept. 20-21.
