LAST TIME OUT
Delaware snapped a five-game losing streak to Rutgers Saturday as the #rv Blue Hens defeated the Scarlet Knights, 12-7, at Delaware Stadium. McKenzie Rafferty guided UD with four goals, all of which were Delaware's final four of the game. The attacker also posted a groundball and caused turnover for the Blue Hens. Shannon Hawley and Casey Lyons contributed two goals and one groundball apiece while Lyons added an assist and Hawley controlled one draw.
SERIES INFORMATION
· Delaware holds the all-time advantage against Monmouth, 2-0, since the series inception in 2013.
· In the last meeting at MU, the Hens defeated the Hawks, 14-6, on Feb. 22, 2013.
· Last season, UD registered a 12-6 victory at Delaware Stadium on March 19.
· Former Blue Hens head coach Denise Wescott (1993-2004) is in her sixth season with Monmouth and holds a record of 53-50 with the Hawks. Wescott (Maryland '80) is in her 25th season overall and is 210-198 as a head coach.
ABOUT MONMOUTH
The Hawks are 3-1 on the year and most recently fell to CAA foe Towson, 4-3. Previously, MU knocked off another of Delaware's 2015 opponents in Rutgers. The Hawks outlasted the Scarlet Knights, 13-12, in double overtime. Monmouth is averaging 7.75 goals per game while allowing 5.25 per contest. The top scorers for MU include Olivia Higson, Claudia LaMarca and Allison Stathius, who have all tallied seven goals on the year. Emily Barbieri also has seven points on two goals and five assists. Back-to-back MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Katie Donohoe has started all four games in the net for the Hawks and has marked 26 saves with 5.43 goals allowed.
