Hens Clinch Spot in CAA Tourney With 13-7 Win Over Tribe

Caitlin McCartneyMcCartney finished the evening with three goals as she moved into sixth place all-time with 150 career scores. The midfielder added five draw controls, three groundballs and two caused turnovers in the victory.
In total, eight Blue Hens tallied at least one point on the night while junior Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario/Berkshire) led the way with four points on two goals and two assists.
Junior Kara Dattellas (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and sophomore Kirsten Hale (Wayne, Pa./Great Valley) each registered two goals and one assist while sophomore Jamie Schwartz (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) collected two assists and one goal.
Junior defender Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) posted three groundballs and three caused turnovers in addition to logging the first goal of her career for Delaware (11-5, 4-1 CAA).
Alex ZaugraWilliam & Mary (5-9, 1-3) was led by Ellen Shaffrey's four draw controls, two goals, one assist and one groundball. Goalie Meredith Crizer was credited with the loss after giving up 11 goals with five saves.
“After a slow start, I thought the team found a way to focus on the task at hand, not only to battle back, but also to build momentum with seven unanswered goals. William and Mary's grit and work rate made us fight to the last whistle in order to secure the win. We will enjoy the victory tonight and then begin to prepare for our second game of this two-game swing tomorrow.” Caitlin McCartney passed Ann Pasquariello (147; 1979-82) and Meghan Mulqueen (148; 1989-92) and is now sixth all-time in Delaware history with 150 career tallies.

· The Hens have reached the 11-win mark for the first time since 2008 and for the 14th time in program history.
