WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Despite choppy water conditions on the Occoquan River, the University of Delaware rowing team posted a solid effort, Sunday against George Mason and George Washington.
Kevin GruberDelaware posted two wins in the morning session against the Patriots. The Blue Hens tallied wins in the Varsity Fours and Novice Eights. The Novice Eights boat, led by coxswain Alison Gibney, tallied a time of 6:59.84, while coxswain Hayley Diverio led the UD Varsity Fours to a victory with a time of 7:42.94.
The Varsity Eights boat also put forth a strong race vs. George Mason, but the Patriots edged the Hens crew by 1.31 seconds.
In the afternoon session vs. the Colonials, UD put together several strong times and the Novice Eights boat notched its second win of the day with a time of 8:36.80.
The Varsity Fours and Varsity Eights put up solid races despite despite the challenging conditions vs. George Washington, but both boats managed second place finishes.
The Blue Hens will return to the water Saturday as Delaware takes on Bucknell in its final race before the Dad Vail Regatta.
