BEAR, Del. – University of Delaware senior guard Kyle Anderson earned the team's Outstanding Achievement Award given by the Blue Hen Basketball Club at the annual University of Delaware Men's Basketball Dinner held Thursday night at Ristorante Marco on Route 40.
Anderson earned third team All-CAA and CAA Academic Team honors this year after leading the Blue Hens and ranking sixth in the Colonial Athletic Association with 14.4 points per game. Anderson, who started the final 23 games after missing the first seven contests with a hand injury, also was sixth in the league with 2.3 three-pointers made, and eighth with 34.3 minutes played per game and an 82.1 free throw percentage.
A team captain, Anderson reached double figures in all but two games on the year, including a season-high 25 points at Elon. Anderson, who led the team with 54 three-pointers made, also poured in 23 points during the home win over William & Mary and had 20 in his season debut against Temple.
A four-year starter for the Blue Hens, Anderson is the school's career leader with 269 three-pointers made and 780 attempted. His 4,048 career minutes played are the second most in UD history, while he is tied for fourth with 122 games played and ranks 13th with 1,292 points. Anderson was given a commemorative basketball at the dinner in recognition of him becoming the Blue Hens' career leader in three-pointers made.
Additionally, fellow senior Tom Allshouse (left) won the Unsung Hero award that was voted upon by the UD men's basketball team. Allshouse appeared in three games early in the season before suffering a heart ailment during an early December practice that forced him to miss the remainder of the year.
