Blue Hens in Seventh Place Following First Day of Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team posted a pair of sub-300 rounds Sunday as the Blue Hens ended the first day of the Patriot Invitational in seventh place out of 17 squads.
UD carded an opening round of 297 before firing a 294 in the second round of the day, ending Sunday's action with a 591 two-round total. No. 13 ranked West Florida leads the field with a 568 score, followed by Bethune-Cookman at 572 and Towson at 573.
Blue Hen junior Marc Oliveri recorded a one over par 74-69-143 on the par 71, 6,903-yard Laurel Hill Golf Club course, ending the day tied for eighth place in the individual standings. Oliveri's second round 69 tied for his career low, and is the second lowest by a Blue Hen this season.
Sophomore Kieran Purcell is tied for 34th place with a seven over par 74-75-149, while classmate Jack Gianniny is tied for 43rd place following his eight over par day of 73-77-150.
Sophomore Blaine Lafferty carded a nine over par 78-73-151 to end Sunday's action tied for 46th place, while senior Kyle Martin is tied for 71st place after recording a 13 over par 76-79-155 on the day.
Jimmy Grem of Towson holds a five-shot lead with an 11 under par 67-64-131 heading into Monday's final round.
