Delaware Men's Golfers Slip To 10th Place at Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf squad carded a 305 score during Monday's final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason, slipping three spots to finish 10th in the team standings.
The Blue Hens, who posted rounds of 297 and 294 on Sunday, finished with a three-round total of 896 to place 10th out of 17 teams at the tournament. No. 13 West Florida was the team champion with an 847 score, followed by James Madison at 860 and Towson at 862.
UD junior Marc Oliveri fired an eight over par 79 on the par 71, 6,903-yard Laurel Hill Golf Club course on Monday, tying for 30th place with a nine over par 74-69-79-222. Sophomore Jack Gianniny had the best round of the day by a Blue Hen with a two over 73, as he tied for 33rd place at 73-77-73-223, 10 over par.
Fellow sophomore Kieran Purcell carded a 14 over par 74-75-78-227 to tie for 49th place at the invitational, while senior Kyle Martin finished 60th with a 17 over par 76-79-75-230. Sophomore Blaine Lafferty, who recorded a 19 over par 78-73-81-232, tied for 64th place in the standings.
Jimmy Grem of Towson posted a two-shot victory to earn medalist honors with a nine under par 67-64-73-204.
The Blue Hens are back in action on Oct. 4-5 when they compete in the Binghamton Fall Invitational at the Links of Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.
