Blue Hen Cross County Finishes Seventh at Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The University of Delaware cross country team posted a seventh place finish out of 42 squads in the Brown race of the 43rd Annual Paul Short Invitational held Saturday morning on the Lehigh campus.
The Blue Hens totaled 231 points to finish seventh in the six-kilometer race, which was won by Princeton with 44 points.
UD freshman Mackenzie Jones led the Blue Hens by finishing a team-best 28th with a time of 21:52, while junior Liz McGroarty was 31st in 21:57 and sophomore Lauren Zodl placed 36th with a time of 22:02.
Valerie Romero came in 66th place by crossing the line in 22:25 for Delaware, while Molly Doyle was 70th in 22:28, Analise Kaminski finished 98th in 22:41, and Gabby Alaimo placed 112th in 22:46.
Delaware senior Betsy Erlanger led a group of seven Blue Hen runners who competed in the six-kilometer Women's Open race, as she finished in 106th place with a time of 23:19. Ilana Schnaufer posted a time of 23:32 to finish 120th, while Kathleen Dailey came in 143rd with her time of 23:46.
Angie Spadaccini was 160th in 24:02, while Claire Beautz placed 168th in 24:09, Adrienne Fraczkowski was 171st in 24:10, and Melissa Talley came in 175th in 24:13.
Delaware is back home next Saturday when the Blue Hens host the Blue & Gold Invitational at 10 a.m. at White Clay Creek State Park.
