NEWARK, Del. -- A deflected shot early in the second half made all the difference Friday night as the University of Delaware women's soccer dropped a tough 1-0 decision to UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association action at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
UNCW, which won its second straight game, scored the game's only goal 10 minutes into the second half and that tally held up the rest of the way to send the Seahawks on to the victory and hand the
snakebit Hens their third straight setback.
Following a scoreless first half, the Seahawks (8-3-2, 2-1-1 CAA) netted the game winner when Savannah Andrews fired a shot 25 yards out from the left side into the box.
Natalie Zelenky recorded a game-high six shots, including five on goal, while freshman Jillian Vassallo (above left) had a season-high four shots, including a shot from close range with 1:13 left that was denied by Huddy. Rekos recorded three saves for Delaware.
