Delaware in 10th Place After First Day of Cape Fear Intercollegiate

LELAND, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team fired rounds of 306 and 312 on Sunday to end the first day of the Cape Fear Intercollegiate in 10th place out of 13 squads.
No. 20 Duke leads the field with a 568 score, while UNCW sits in second place at 582 and South Carolina Beaufort is third with a 594 score.
Blue Hen sophomore Kieran Purcell, who fired a 73-79-152 on the par 72, 6,850-yard Cape Fear National Golf Course, and senior Kyle Martin, who carded a 74-78-152, are each tied for 24th place in the individual standings at eight over par. Blaine Lafferty is tied for 28th place after he recorded a nine over par 78-75-153 during his two rounds on Sunday.
Marc Oliveri carded a 17 over par 81-80-161 to end the day tied for 66th place, while Mark Benevento fired a 19 over par 83-80-163 to tie for 68th place. Bobby Diforio, playing as an individual, is also tied for 68th place after shooting a 19 over par 82-81-163 during his Blue Hen debut.
The third and final round of the Cape Fear Intercollegiate will take place on Monday.
