Hens Collect Sixth Straight ?W? With 10-4 Victory at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a battle of two high-powered offenses, Delaware came out on top by defeating Temple, 10-4, Wednesday afternoon at Geasey Field.
Coming into the game, the Blue Hens (8-1) averaged 12.88 goals per contest while the Owls posted 14.38 per. Temple (7-2) had scored at least 12 goals in each of the previous seven games and was held to its lowest total since losing to No. 8 Florida, 17-3, on March 28, 2015.
Tied, 3-3, at halftime, UD scored three unanswered goals to open the second half before Morgan Glassford collected Temple's lone goal of the stanza at 18:52. The Hens finished the game with four consecutive tallies, including one from senior Kara Dattellas (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) with 52 seconds remaining on the clock.
Delaware, which has won six straight, was led in scoring by senior Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada/Berkshire), who posted her third hat trick of the season with three goals to go along with two assists. She added two draw controls and two groundballs in the win.
Sophomore Becky Gohsler (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) registered her third straight game of two goals in addition to collecting two draw controls and a caused turnover.
Dattellas also logged two goals while classmate Shannon Hawley (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) notched a goal and two assists.
Seniors Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Devyn Heidelbaugh (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) guided the Delaware defensive unit as Wein caused four Owls turnovers with three groundballs while Heidelbaugh tallied career-highs of four groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Sophomore Taylor Carpentier (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) registered eight saves to move to 8-1 in her first season with the Blue Hens.

HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Delaware is off to its best start since 2000 when the squad opened the year 9-1.
· UD has scored at least 10 goals in every game this season.
· The Blue Hens have won nine of the last 11 against Temple.
· Both Delaware and Temple are currently receiving votes in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll while the Blue Hens are also receiving votes in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
· The Hens outshot the Owls, 22-12, and also held a 16-10 advantage in groundballs.
· Casey Lyons is nearing the 100-goal club and has registered 95 during her three-year career with the Hens.
· With five points at Temple, Lyons jumps to 15th in program history with 154 career points. She currently has 59 assists, a mark good for 10th all-time.
· Jamie Schwartz had two streaks halted against the Owls as she was held without a goal for the first time in 15 games and without a point in 13.
