Four Delaware Boats Win Twice at George Mason Invitational

OCCOQUAN, Va. -- Four Blue Hen boats won a pair of races as the University of Delaware rowing team competed in the George Mason Invitational on the Occoquan River on Sunday.
The Novice Eight crew won its morning race in 7:21.9, finishing ahead of Duquesne and Buffalo, and then defeated the same two teams in the afternoon with a time of 7:21.3.
The Varsity Eight boat defeated George Mason with a time of 6:50.2 in the morning, before finishing ahead of Duquesne with a time of 6:43.4 during the afternoon.
The Second Varsity Eight crew also topped George Mason in 7:01.5 during its first race, before defeating Duquesne in 7:07.0 in its afternoon race.
The UD Varsity Four boat posted a victory over George Mason in 7:54.7, before winning its second race against Duquesne and George Washington in 7:46.6.
The Third Varsity Eight boat finished second in its morning race in 7:41.1, crossing the line ahead of Buffalo and behind Duquesne. UD again finished second to Duquesne in the afternoon, posting a time of 7:41.0.
The Varsity Four “B” finished second in its morning race to George Washington with a time of 8:20.3, before finishing ahead of George Mason but behind Eastern Michigan in 8:19.5 during the afternoon.
Delaware returns to action on Saturday, Apr. 30 at the Lehigh Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
