RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware freshman guard Kevin Anderson was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Anderson (Williamsport, Pa./St. John Neumann) scored 12 points and led the Blue Hens with a season-high 12 rebounds to post his first career double-double in Delaware's 68-59 overtime win at Delaware State on Sunday. He added two steals and an assist in 41 minutes of action, and scored the first basket of the extra session that put the Blue Hens in front for good.
Anderson has appeared in and started all but one game this season, as he currently is tied for the team lead with 29 assists, ranks second with 12.9 points per game, and is fourth with 4.8 rebounds per contest. He leads all CAA freshmen in scoring, rebounding and assists.
Anderson is the second Blue Hen guard in three weeks to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors, along with Ryan Allen on Dec. 4.
