GAME PREVIEW
The University of Delaware (7-4, 0-1 CAA) and No. 4/3 ranked and undefeated Hofstra (9-0, 1-0 CAA) will square off Saturday at 1 p.m. at Delaware Stadium.
The game will be a special one for the Blue Hens as they will honor the 14 senior players on this year's squad.
Delaware, which is receiving votes in this week's USILA Coaches Top 20 poll, had a two-game win streak snapped last Saturday as the Blue Hens fell to UMass 9-6 in the CAA opener for both teams in Amherst, Mass.
Delaware pulled to within 6-5 early in the final quarter but the Minutemen scored the final four goals of the game. Steve DeLargy led the Hens with two goals and Andrew Romagnoli dished out three assists.
Last time out at Delaware Stadium was a historic day for the Blue Hens as Delaware knocked off No. 1 ranked Rutgers 13-9 behind three goals each from midfielders DeLargy, Trupert Ortlieb, and Will Hirschmann and a career-high 19 saves from goalkeeper Matt DeLuca.
The victory marked the first-ever win over a No. 1 ranked team for the Blue Hens in school history. DeLuca was named USILA National Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Hofstra is unbeaten this season but it hasn't been easy for the Pride, who have won six games by two goals or less. The Pride is coming off a 10-6 win at Fairfield in its CAA opener Saturday as Josh Byrne had two goals and three assists.
