Chapman Fires 65 to Finish Fourth, Blue Hens Sixth at Golfweek Program Championship

Pawleys Island, S.C. – Blue Hen sophomore Christian Chapman tied for the second lowest score in Delaware history with a 65 on Tuesday as he tied for fourth place at the Golfweek Program Championship.
Chapman fired seven birdies during his final round, including three straight from 13 through 15, and added 11 pars while not carding a bogey during his outstanding round on the par 72, 6,926-yard True Blue Golf Course on Tuesday. His seven under par 65 is one shot behind Justin Martinson's school record 64 at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, Md. on Oct. 17, 2010. Chapman finished the tournament with a nine under par 67-75-65-207, the second lowest three-round total in UD history. Joe McLister shot a 70-69-67-206 at the James Madison Invitational on Oct. 10-11, 2005.
Delaware fired a 282 score during its final round of the invitational, tying for sixth place out of 14 teams with an 857 three-round total. Campbell easily captured the team title with an 816 score, while Jacksonville State and Stephen F. Austin tied for second place at 850.
RJ Wren, who played as an individual, shot a one under par 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 10th place with a five under par 71-69-71-211. Wren opened his final round with 11 consecutive pars, before adding birdies on the third and ninth holes.
Jack Melville tied for 33rd place at the tournament with a one over par 69-74-74-217, while Matt Pulgini fired a three over par 71-73-75-219 to finish in a tie for 40th place.
Roberto Nieves tied for 43rd place with a four over par 69-78-73-220, while Andrew Jacobs tied for 50th place with a six over par 75-77-70-222.
Delaware returns to the course on Sept. 28-30 when the Blue Hens compete in the Villanova Invitational in Malvern, Pa.
