Blue Hens Use Total Team Effort to Push Past UConn, 17-9

STORRS, Conn. – Four Blue Hens posted hat tricks while seven total players scored points Saturday afternoon as Delaware topped Connecticut, 17-9, at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center.
Sarah Bedard led the way with a career-high five goals and Christine Long added four goals and one assist to go along with career-bests of nine draw controls and four ground balls as the Hens improved to 4-5 on the year.
Additionally, Mia DeRuggiero (1g, 5a) Caroline Farley (3g, 1a), Claire D'Antonio (3g), Sarah Comstock (1g, 1a) and Sydney Rausa (2a) all contributed at least two points for Delaware.
The Blue Hens jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage and never looked back in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Kate Brewster finished the game with nine saves for her third career win.
