Melville Finishes Ninth to Lead Blue Hens at Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Blue Hen junior Jack Melville finished in ninth place in the individual standings while Delaware placed 12th in the team standings this week at the Wofford Invitational.

After carding rounds of 309 and 291 on Monday, the Blue Hens recorded a 294 on Tuesday to finish 12th out of 16 squads with an 894 total. Furman easily captured the team crown with an 839 score, while Austin Peay was second at 866.

Melville shot a three under par 69 during his final round on the par 72, 6,648-yard Country Club of Spartanburg course, finishing ninth with a two under par 74-71-69-214. Melville posted five birdies and 11 pars during his round on Tuesday.

Roberto Nieves tied for 45th place at the tournament with a nine over par 77-74-74-225, while Matt Pulgini carded a 10 over par 84-69-73-226 to tie for 49th place. Nick Vecellio, playing as an individual, tied for 60th place with a 13 over par 76-75-78-229.

RJ Wren tied for 63rd place after shooting a 14 over par 74-77-79-230, while Cole Alibozek finished in 87th place with a 30 over par 88-80-78-246.

Jack Crosby of Furman was the tournament medalist after carding a 13 under par 65-70-68-203.

The Blue Hens return to the course on Apr. 8-9 when they compete in the Villanova Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.
