FAIRFAX, Va. – Sydney Rausa posted her 15th career hat trick, but the Blue Hens came up on the wrong end in Wednesday's 11-8 loss at George Mason.
Delaware bookended its goals by scoring three of the first five of the game and then closing with four unanswered, including two in the final minute of action.
Rausa led the Hens with three tallies while Kendra Schweizer recorded her first career goal and finished the day with two for UD.
Julia Dambly collected a team-best six draw controls while Kate Brewster registered three ground balls and six saves.
POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Amy Altig
"We fought back in the second half, but we couldn't finish offensively on a lot of opportunities. George Mason goalie Melissa Semkiw had a great game and we didn't adjust as we needed to to put the ball away. Julia Dambly created a lot of opportunities for us by dominating the draw in the second half. Our effort in the ride was a bright spot, we just have to create points off of the turnovers that we are causing."
