Altig Captures First Career Win as Blue Hens Top Duquesne, 17-8

NEWARK, Del. – Home cooking was just what the Blue Hens needed as Delaware picked up its first win of the season by defeating Duquesne, 17-8, at Delaware Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
The victory was also the first for Amy Altig in her head coaching career.
Christine Long led Delaware with five goals while eight total Blue Hens collected at least one goal and 10 tallied at least a point on the day. Long finished the day with her 15th career hat trick and bypassed 100 career goals in the process.
Sarah Bedard and Mia DeRuggiero each added five points on two goals and three assists while Katie Caddigan posted four points on two goals and two assists.
DeRuggiero also contributed a career-best seven draw controls for the Hens.
Defensively, Malaina Dunn posted team-highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Kate Brewster collected 11 saves for her first win of the season.
