MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Delaware men's golf team is tied for second place while Roberto Nieves is tied for fourth following Monday's two rounds at the Golfweek Spring Invitational.
The Blue Hens fired an impressive 277 score during the first round of the day before carding a 287 in the afternoon to finish the day tied for second place out of 10 squads with a 564 total. North Dakota State leads the field with a 556 score, while Campbell and the Blue Hens are eight shots back.
Nieves carded a five under par 66-73-139 on the par 72, 6,940-yard True Blue course to end the day tied for fourth place among individuals. His opening round featured eight birdies, while he added four more during his second round. Nieves is four shots behind tournament leader Pontus Nyholm of Campbell who sits at nine under par.
Jack Halleron is tied for ninth place after he fired a three under par 69-72-141 on Monday. Michal Bargenda, playing as an individual, and RJ Wren each shot a two under par 72-70-142 and are tied for 13th place.
Hugo Kedzlie is tied for 30th place with a two over par 76-70-146, while Owen Manchester is tied for 40th place with a five over par 72-77-149.
The final round of the tournament will take place on Tuesday.
