Blue Hens Third, Nieves Seventh After First Day of Golfweek Fall Challenge

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Delaware men's golf team sits in third place while Roberto Nieves is tied for seventh following Sunday's opening round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
The Blue Hens fired a 283 score on Sunday to finish the day in third place out of 18 teams. Delaware is 10 shots behind tournament leader Mercer at 273, while Jacksonville State is second with a 281 score.
Nieves, who carded five birdies on the day, recorded a three under par 69 on the par 72, 7,005-yard True Blue Course.
Michal Bargenda is tied for 10th place with a two under par 70, while Hugo Kedzlie and Owen Manchester each fired even par 72 rounds to end the day tied for 22nd place. Sparky Ariyachatvakin, who shot a four over par 76, is tied for 66th place.
The second round of the three-day tournament will be held on Monday.
