Softball Preview: Saint Joseph's

» The University of Delaware softball team will travel to Philadelphia for a single midweek game on Wednesday afternoon against Saint Joseph's. First pitch at SJU Softball Field is set for 3 p.m.

» The Blue Hens are 26-12 on the season overall after going 2-1 in their weekend series at Towson. UD dropped the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, 4-3, before bouncing back with a 5-4 win in the nightcap and an impressive 15-4 victory in five innings on Sunday recording a season-high 17 hits from 10 different batters, including seven extra-base hits.

» Hanna Garber was named the CAA Player of the Week on Monday, marking her second weekly honor of the season. Garber led the Blue Hens to its third-straight CAA series victory, posting a .500 batting average with five runs scored and one RBI. She recorded multiple hits in all three games against Towson, hitting 6-for-12 in the series with three extra-base knocks.

» Garber leads the Blue Hens with a .377 batting average on 49 hits and leads the CAA with 43 runs scored. Brooke Glanden is tied with Garber with eight home runs to go along with a team-high 33 RBI while Brittney Mendoza has hit five home runs and driven in 32. On the pitching side, Emily Winburn has a CAA-leading 12 wins with a 2.53 ERA and 106 strikeouts. Graceyn Frost leads UD with a 2.46 ERA to go along with 11 wins and 82 strikeouts.

» Saint Joseph's sits at 16-18 on the season and 11-6 in the A-10 after taking a series from Fordham this past weekend. Sarah Cancila leads the Hawks batting at a .333 clip, while Jordan Kinkle has a .322 batting average with 37 hits and is 15-for-18 in stolen base attempts. In the circle, Emily Siler leads the team with eight wins and 69 strikeouts in 101.2 innings pitched. She has a 3.98 ERA, second to Amanda Herr's 3.89 ERA that leads the pitching staff.
