Women's Lacrosse Preview: Hofstra

» The Blue Hens (3-8, 0-1 CAA) fell at Drexel, 20-6, in the CAA opener last Wednesday. Delaware's offense was led by Danika Swech (3g) and Delaney McDaniel (1g, 3a).

» Riley Gillin leads the Blue Hens with 29 points (11g, 18a) while McDaniel ranks second on the team with 28 points (9g, 19a). McDaniel is second in the CAA in assists per game (1.73) while Gillin is third in assists per game (1.64) and 10th in points per game (2.64). Goalkeeper Mercy McCarthy has started in eight of 10 games and holds a .407 save percentage.

» Hofstra (6-5, 0-1 CAA) is coming off a 17-10 loss against No. 12 James Madison, Saturday. Erin Demek led the way with two goals and one assist while Jackie Gatti had one goal and dished out two assists.

» The Pride's Katie Whelan leads the squad with 42 points (29 g, 13a) while Taylor Mennella stands second on the team with 29 points (20g, 9a). Whelan is fifth in the league with goals per game (2.64), sixth in assists per game (1.18) and third in points per game (3.82). Goalkeeper Jess Smith has started in all 11 games and holds a .511 save percentage and a 9.80 goals against average both of which rank second in the conference.

» Wednesday marks the 34th all-time meeting between the teams with the Blue Hens holding a 21-11 all-time record against the Pride and a 19-10 record against them in CAA games. In the team's last meeting in 2019, Hofstra defeated Delaware, 14-8, in Delaware Stadium.
