Softball Preview: Drexel

» The University of Delaware softball team will bring its four-game winning streak into a pivotal three-game CAA series this weekend as the Blue Hens host Drexel at Delaware Softball Stadium. Two of the best offenses in the conference will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. before concluding the series with a single game on Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest.

» The Blue Hens are 21-11 on the season and 4-2 in CAA play after sweeping Elon in a three-game series last weekend and then blowing past Lehigh 20-2 in a midweek game. In Wednesday's road victory, UD used three home runs and a 16-run second inning to come away with the run-rule victory. Julz Garber led the offensive attack with two extra base hits and six RBI while also scoring two runs. Hanna Garber was on base four times with a home run and three walks, scored three times and drove in two, while Brooke Glanden also scored three runs and had three RBI as she reached base three times with a hit and two walks. Halle Kisamore and Brittney Mendoza both had two hits and Mendoza had four RBI.

» Hanna Garber is atop the Blue & Gold with a .383 batting average and 41 hits and 33 runs scored. She is tied with Glanden for the team lead with seven home runs while Glanden paces the Blue Hens with 27 RBI. On the pitching side, Graceyn Frost has a league-high 10 wins and she leads UD with a 2.51 ERA. Emily Winburn has a 2.89 ERA to go along with eight wins and a team-best 85 strikeouts.

» Drexel is 18-9 on the season and tied with Delaware in the standings with a 4-2 record in CAA play. The Dragons have won conference series over both Charleston and Towson. They are leading the league with a team batting average of .318 and Kristi DiMeo leads the CAA with a .461 batting average. Jackie Masone is also hitting over .400 while Ashley Errico is second in the conference with nine home runs. Brooklyn Daly is 9-2 in the circle with a 3.94 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. Lindsay Nelson and Meghan Conroy each have four wins.
