VERONA, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's golf team sits in third place while freshman Casper Nerpin is tied for fourth following Sunday's two rounds at the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
Delaware posted team rounds of 291 and 285 on Sunday, ending the day in third place out of 11 squads with a 576 score. Tournament host Missouri leads the field at 557, followed by Stetson at 572 and the Blue Hens.
Nerpin had an impressive day while making his Blue Hen debut, posting a pair of two under par 70 rounds on the par 72, 6,882-yard Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone Resort. Nerpin, who carded 12 birdies on the day, is tied for fourth place among individuals with a four under par 140.
Sparky Ariyachatvakin is tied for 12th place with an even par 73-71=144, while Hugo Kedzlie and Owen Manchester each recorded a two over par 74-72=146 to end the day tied for 18th place.
Xiong Da, playing as an individual, is tied for 24th place with a four over par 76-72=148, while Jack Halleron is tied for 28th place with a five over par 74-75=149. Michal Bargenda, also playing as an individual, is tied for 57th place with a 19 over par 82-81=163.
The final round of the invitational will take place on Monday.
