Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Goldey-Beacom, 101-68

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's basketball team topped Goldey-Beacom, 101-68, Wednesday night at the Bob Carpenter Center in the 2023 home opener. Seven Blue Hens eclipsed double figures in a game for the first time since Feb. 29, 2020, against UNC Wilmington as Delaware advanced to 2-0 on the season.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Kobe Jerome's first triple marked his first career points as he went on to hit six on the night. Those six-straight three-pointers are tied for the second most consecutive in a single game in program history. The Harlem, N.Y. native posted a career best 18 points.
- Christian Ray hit the 800-rebound plateau with his nine first-half boards, as he went on to post a double-double. His final tally was 15 points and a career-best 17 boards.
- Jalun Trent recorded his first double-figure game in a Hens' uniform, as he finished with 12 on the night.
- Tyler Houser (14), Gerald Drumgoole Jr. (12), Cavan Reilly (11), and Niels Lane (10) rounded out the cohort of double-figure scorers.
- The Hens took a 6-0 run over a 1:17 span to pull ahead 12-5 at the media break at 15:19. Delaware built the lead to as many as 10, before the Lightning cut it to six at 26-20 with 9:43 left in the opening frame. A 9-0 UD run stretched the lead to 35-20 at the under eight stoppage. The Blue & Gold cruised to halftime up, 52-34.
- The Hens outscored the Lighting 14-6 through the first six minutes of action in the second half to go up 66-40. From the 12:22 mark to the 7:51 media timeout, the Blue Hens outpaced the Lighting 15-2 to take an 84-49 edge. Over the final three minutes, the teams traded blows, but it was Reilly who put the final exclamation point on the 33-point win as the sophomore drilled a trey to put Delaware in triple digits.
- Drumgoole Jr. made his first career start for the Blue Hens.
- Ray tallied his seventh double-double as a Blue Hen and 11th in his career.
- Trent tied his career-high with six assists.
- All Hens who were available saw action in Wednesday night's contest.
- Wednesday's game was the first time the Hens reached triple figures since their 100-62 win over Chestnut Hill on Nov. 13, 2018.
- Jyáre Davis missed the game with an illness and is expected to return on Sunday.
