Two Big Innings Bury Baseball at Ole Miss

Eli Atiya started for Delaware, and after a pair of strikeouts in the opening frame, Ole Miss exploded for six runs in the second inning aided by a three-run home run from Peyton Chatagnier.
Delaware fought back in the top of the fourth inning, as preseason All-CAA honorable mention Bryce Greenly swatted a solo homer to dead center to get the Hens on the board. Aidan Kane added an RBI single to close the gap to four.
Joey Silan relieved Atiya and flourished, firing 4.1 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits while striking out three.
Delaware had another chance in the eighth, getting two runners on with nobody out, but struck out three times in a row to end the rally.
Following Silan's effort, Owen Margolis entered the game and allowed a trio of home runs in the Ole Miss half of the eighth inning, putting the Rebels up 11-2.
Despite a pair of baserunners in the ninth, the Rebels' lead held, sealing the first victory of the season for the defending champs.
Game two is set for tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. EST. Nate Rolka is slated to make the start for the Blue Hens.
