Baseball Blanked at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Delaware baseball (0-2) fell for a second-straight game at defending national champion #4 Ole Miss (2-0) on Saturday by a score of 10-0.
The Rebels scored a trio of runs on starter Nate Rolka in the first inning and added another before Carter Welch took over for him in the second.
Delaware did not mount much offense until the sixth inning, loading the bases after a leadoff double by JJ Freeman. However, those runners remained stranded.
Welch held the Rebels scoreless until the seventh inning, where Judd Utermark deposited a three-run homer into the left-field seats to extend the lead to eight. Ole Miss added two more runs in the eighth to end the game via the mercy rule.
Bryce Greenly, Aidan Kane and Freeman each recorded hits in the loss.
Delaware is back in action on Sunday for the series finale at 1:00 p.m. EST. Chris Grome is set for the start, his first appearance in a Blue Hens uniform.
