Nelson Jr. Tabbed CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Delaware's Jameer Nelson Jr. was tabbed the CAA Player of the Week after his performances against Stony Brook, Towson, and UNCW, the league announced Monday.

The Haverford, Pa. native averaged 24.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.7 steals per game in a 2-1 week with victories over Stony Brook and UNCW. The week was highlighted by a career-high 39 points in a senior day victory over third place UNCW on 13-of-21 shooting and 5-of-8 from three. The outburst was the best by a Blue Hen since Davon Usher tallied 42 against Charleston on Feb. 5, 2-14 and is the third most points scored inside the Bob Carpenter Center.

Nelson scored 23 points in last Monday's win over Stony Brook with the pair of victories helping keep the Blue Hens a game clear for a first-round bye with two contests remaining in the regular season. The honor is Nelson's second of the season and Delaware's fourth as a team.

Delaware returns to play on Thursday at North Carolina A&T.
