TOWSON, Md. – No. 13/14/15 Delaware men's lacrosse five-game winning streak was snapped by Colonial Athletic Association foe Towson by a score of 15-10 on Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
With the loss, the Blue Hens finish the regular season 10-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Blue Hens host the CAA Tournament from May 4-6 at Delaware Stadium and have clinched the one seed. The Blue Hens opponent will be announced following the result of the Hofstra vs Stony Brook game that takes place tonight at 7 p.m.
Towson finishes the regular season with a 6-8 overall record and a 5-2 record in conference. The Tigers have clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament.
The Blue Hens got out to an early 2-1 lead thanks to goals from JP Ward and Nick Jessen within the games first three minutes. After the Tigers responded with five-straight goals to take a 6-2 lead, the Blue Hens closed the first quarter with a goal from Ward with two seconds on the clock.
Following Ward's goal to close the first quarter, Cam Acchione cut the Tigers lead to 6-4 with a goal 34 seconds into the second. The Tigers, however, responded with four straight goals and took a 11-5 lead into the half.
Delaware didn't go down without a fight, as it outscored Towson 4-0 in the third quarter. The Blue Hens saw two goals from Mike Robinson, as well as goals from Brendan Powers and Riar Schell during the stretch to cut the Tigers lead to 11-9 heading into the fourth quarter.
Despite momentum on the Blue Hens side, the Tigers ripped off four straight goals to start the fourth quarter, and would be too much for the Blue Hens to mount a comeback.

He is one of three players with multi-goal games along with Robinson and Acchione. Matt Kilkeary was credited with the decision. He had eight saves.
