Men's Lacrosse Set to Play Towson in the CAA Tournament Semifinals

NEWARK, Del. – Top seeded Delaware men's lacrosse takes on Towson in the Colonial Athletic Association semifinal game on Thursday, May 4 at Delaware Stadium.

If the Blue Hens win, they will play either No. 2 seed Drexel, or No. 3 seed Stony Brook in the CAA Tournament Championship game on Saturday, May 6 at 3:30 p.m.

SCOUTING DELAWARE
- The Blue Hens enter the CAA Tournament with a 10-4 and 6-1 in conference play.
- The Blue Hens are coming off a 15-10 loss against Towson last Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
- In the CAA Tournament, the Blue Hens are 10-8 all-time, and 2-3 under head coach Ben DeLuca
- This is the first time the Blue Hens have hosted the CAA Tournament since 2005 when it was hosted at Rullo Stadium. The Blue Hens defeated Hofstra in the semifinals, but lost to Towson in the tournament.
- The Delaware men's lacrosse team has six Blue Hens named to the All-CAA Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
- Headlining the postseason honors are Tye Kurtz, Owen Grant, and Ben DeLuca. Kurtz was the league's Offensive Player of the Year, Grant was the Defensive Player of the Year, and DeLuca was the Coach of the Year. Kurtz and Grant were also named to the CAA First Team
- Joining the three are Matt Kilkeary, and JP Ward, who were first team All-CAA recipients, Jason Seiter making an appearance on the second team, and Brendan Powers on the all-rookie team
- After starting conference play 1-2, the Tigers finished conference play with four straight wins, and are on a current three game winning streak
- The Tigers had nine athletes represented on the CAA postseason awards. Kyle Berkeley and Colby Barsz were named to the All-CAA first team, Nick DeMaio, Josh Webber, Matt Constantinides, Garrett Zungailia, and Evan Long were named to the All-CAA second team, and Ryan Schrier, Mikey Weisshaar, and Joaquin Villagomez were named to the CAA All-Rookie team.
- Leading the way on offense for the Tigers was DeMaio. He leads in goals with 28, assists with 20, and points with 48. DeMaio, along with Berkeley, and Webber have double digit goals and assists for the season.
- Barsz led the Tigers defensively in caused turnovers with 16. He is one of three players on the Tigers roster, along with Zungailia with 15 and Reece Potter 14, with 10 or more caused turnovers.
- Long has appeared, and started in 13 games for the Tigers this season. He boasts a 6-7 overall record, a 10.81 goals against average, and a conference best .529 save percentage. In conference games, he's earned a 9.37 goals against average, and a .551 save percentage.
