Men's Lacrosse Takes on Top Seeded Duke in NCAA Tournament

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's lacrosse travels to Durham, N.C. to take on top seeded Duke in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, May 14 at 5 p.m.

Sunday's meeting will be the 14th all-time between the Blue Hens and Blue Devils. Delaware holds a 7-6 advantage over Duke, however, UD has not defeated Duke since April 6, 1988.
The last time these two teams played was last season on Feb. 22 where the Blue Devils defeated the Blue Hens 19-14 in Durham, N.C.
This will also be the second ever meeting between Delaware and Duke in the NCAA Tournament. The two teams met back on May 14, 2011, exactly 12 years ago to the day, where the Blue Devils came out on top 15-14.
It will be just the third meeting between the two squads since 1990.

SCOUTING DELAWARE
- The Blue Hens enter Sunday's game with a 13-4 overall record. They are coming off a dominant victory over Marist 25-10 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at Delaware Stadium
- In the win, the Blue Hens set a new program record for most goals (25), assists (13), and points (38) in an NCAA Tournament game.
- Individually, Mike Robinson set a new program record for most goals scored in an NCAA Tournament game with seven. Him and Tye Kurtz tied the program record for most points in an NCAA Tournament game with eight.
- Offensively, the Blue Hens are led by Tye Kurtz and JP Ward. Kurtz leads the way in goals with 54, and points with 84, while Ward is right behind in points with 83, but leads in assists with 43. Mike Robinson has also played a large role in the offense. He's scored 26 goals over the last nine games. He's scored at least two goals in eight of the nine games.
- Defensively, the Blue Hens are led by the defensive trio of Owen Grant, Joe Speers and Tate Wasson. Grant leads the team with 36 caused turnovers, which broke his own program record for the most in a season. Speers has 25, and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team. Wasson has 23, and has caused at least two turnovers in six of the Blue Hens last seven games.
- In goal, Matt Kilkeary has started all 17 games for the Blue Hens. He boast a 13-4 record in net, a 9.29 goals against average, and a .527 save percentage.
- The Blue Devils enter Sunday's contest with a 13-2 overall record. They are coming off a 14-2 road win over Merrimack College back on May 7.
- After an early season loss to Jacksonville, the Blue Devils won 11 of their final 12 games down the stretch of the season. Their lone loss came against Notre Dame, who was ranked No. 2 at the time, and is the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
- Despite their record, the Blue Devils have had several down-to-the-wire games this season. Seven of the Blue Devils 13 wins came by three goals or less, and had to go into overtime to defeat Denver and Syracuse earlier in the season.
- Offensively, the Blue Devils are led by Brennan O'Neill and Dyson Williams. O'Neill, who is a Tewaaraton finalist, leads the Blue Devils in points with 80, and assists with 36. He's also added 44 goals, which is second on the team. Williams leads the Blue Devils in goals with 51.
- Defensively, Wilson Stephenson leads the Duke in caused turnovers with 23. He is one of three players on the Blue Devils roster with more than 10 caused turnovers, along with Tyler Carpenter (11), and Kenny Brower (14).
- William Helm has started all 15 games in net for the Blue Devils this season. He boast a 13-2 record in net, has a 10.71 goals against average, and a .517 save percentage.
If the Blue Hens defeat Duke on Sunday, they will play the winner of Cornell and Michigan on Saturday, May 20, Albany, N.Y.
