NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's basketball has added North Dakota transfer Jalun Trent, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Thursday. Trent comes to UD with one year of eligibility remaining.
"We are very excited to welcome Jalun to the Blue Hen basketball family," Ingelsby said. "Jalun is a pass first point guard with a savy basketball IQ and great size and length for the position. He prides himself on being an elite presence on the defensive end of the floor while also be a great rebounder for his size. We look forward to welcoming him to Newark in the next few weeks!"
Trent comes to Newark after spending the 2022-23 season at North Dakota where he appeared in 22 games for the Fighting Hawks, making 20 starts. In 22.2 minutes per game, the 6-4, 190-pound guard averaged 6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Trent posted season bests of 14 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists during the campaign.
"I'm grateful to be a Blue Hen," Trent said. "I'm looking forward to joining the program and being welcomed with open arms. I can't wait to start working on improving my game and being the best teammate I can."
Prior to North Dakota, the Baltimore, Md. native played two seasons at Cochise College in Arizona. He tallied 9.4 points, 8.0 assists, and 7.2 rebounds per game over those two seasons. Overall, he shot 61-percent in the NJCAA, aiding Cochise to back-to-back ACCAC Championships in Region I.
For is play, he was recognized as the ACCAC & NJCAA Region I Defensive Player of the Year in 2021-22, while also garnering First Team All-ACCAC and First Team NJCAA All-Region I honors. The previous season he landed on the second team for both leagues.
Trent graduated from Upper Darby High School in 2018 and was a four-year member of the basketball team.
