Men’s Soccer Defeats Loyola in Shutout Fashion for Back-to-Back Wins to Start the Season

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team has its first 2-0 start since 2016 after securing the win at Loyola, 2-0, on Sunday evening.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Sam Donnellan led the team with four points, scoring a pair of goals for the victory.
Einar Hardarson recorded an assist for the second game in a row.
Eddie DeMarco recorded a save in his second career win, and first career shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware drew a foul inside the Greyhounds box during the 14th minute of the game. Donnellan scored on the penalty kick, successfully finding the back of the net on the right side of the goal.
In the 26th minute of the game, Hardarson eyed Donnellan before perfectly placing the ball at Donnellan's feet. Donnellan took advantage of the opportunity, netting the ball for the second time.
The Greyhounds failed to respond, and the Hens kept the 2-0 lead after the first half.
Loyola's offense came out hot in the second half, pushing toward DeMarco in goal. However, Delaware's defense remained strong and allowed the Greyhounds only one shot on goal.

GAME NOTES

Joshua Rippon made his first career appearance.
