NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's soccer team finished its final home game of the regular season with a tie against Coastal Athletic Association foe Towson on Thursday by a score of 0-0.
Â
With the tie, the Blue Hens overall record becomes 6-6-6 and 4-2-3 in the CAA with 15 points. They will remain in fifth place in the conference. The top six teams earn a spot in the conference tournament, starting on October 31.
ON THE RECORD
"First of all, I want to thank all the fans and parents for their support this season. It has been a fantastic atmosphere at Grant Stadium. The play dates have been especially great. The first time we held one, we had four kids come out, and now we have over 20 future Blue Hens kicking around and having fun on the field after games. Being part of the 302 community is important to us, and we appreciate the effort and support our fans have given us this season," head coach Kelly Lawrence said.
"Secondly, I want to express how proud we are of this group, particularly our seniors, who are leaving a legacy. Their impact is evident on the field and in setting standards that foster a team environment of high character. They have faced a lot in their four years, and we thank them for the faith and trust they have placed in us. We hope to keep this ride going as long as possible this season."
"Lastly, a big thank you to everyone within Delaware Athletics for their support, attention to detail, and passion for women's soccer. I also want to give a big shoutout to my staff. They have poured themselves into this program, and I truly appreciate them both as people and as colleagues."
