HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Jyáre Davis led the Hens in scoring with 19 points. He added 12 boards for his fourth double-double of the year. He's now scored 17 or more points in 13 of the last 17 games.
- Cavan Reilly and Jalun Trent joined Ray and Davis in double figures as the pair totaled 13 and 11, respectively.
- Tyler Houser went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc for nine points - the most in a game for him since scoring 11 against Air Force on Nov. 12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded the first 14 points for a 7-7 tie at the first media stoppage with 15:42 on the clock. More of the same with another tie at the next media break - 16-16, 11:27 to play. The two squads continued to battle back and forth, but a trey from Houser and a layup from Ray put the Hens ahead 21-16 with 9:52 left. After a Wes Peterson Jr. three pointer made it a two-score game, the Hawks used a 6-0 run to knot the contest at 27 with 5:33 to go. UD responded with a triple from Reilly to take back its lead for good as the Blue & Gold never trailed for the rest of the half. Delaware ended the first going 4-for-4 from the field and 5-of-6 from the stripe for a 42-38 edge.
- The second half began like the first, both teams trading blows, but at the 9:10 mark, a Drumgoole Jr. three pointer sparked an 8-0 burst for the Blue & Gold as UD took a 70-62 advantage with 7:14 to go. By the 2:55 mark, Delaware's lead swelled to nine, 76-67, but after six points from Monmouth's Xander Rice, the Hawks cut it to a one-score game with 35 seconds left in regulation. Despite the Hawks cutting it to one with mere seconds remaining, UD never let up and came away with its second-straight win.
GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens finished Saturday's game with a season-high seven blocks as a team.
- Delaware never trailed following the 9:29 mark in the second half.
- This is the third game this season with 11 or more lead changes for UD.
- This was the seventh game this year UD finished with a 50-percent field goal percentage or greater.
- Houser's two blocks tie his career best.
