Women's Lacrosse Comfortably Beats Lehigh to Open the Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The sister duo of Jaclyn Marszal and Steph Marszal guided the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team to a 11-7 win against Lehigh on Friday.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Marszal scored five goals, three of them occurring in the second half. She finished with seven points with a pair of assists.
Marszal was joined by Lizzie Hsu, Riley Gillin, Keira Grant, Callie Drab, Morgan Gore, and Danielle Livornese with once score apiece.
Gillin added two assists to her stat line for three points on the day.
The Hens scored four-unanswered goals in the first five minutes of third period to give themselves a commanding 10-4 lead.
In her first career start, Steph Marszal (1-0) denied 14 shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hens took a 4-3 lead from a goal by Marszal with a second left in the first period and would not trail for the rest of the game.
Drab's goal towards the end of the first half doubled the Hens advantage, going into halftime up 6-4.
The Hens would only give up one goal in the third period.

GAME NOTES

Seven different Hens scored against the Mountain Hawks.
Both Marszal sisters set career highs with Jaclyn in goals and Steph in saves.

Delaware opens their season at home on Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. against UMBC.
