NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware's Emily Winburn pitched a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 win against Monmouth to begin this weekend's conference series against the Hawks, the Blue Hens' fifth straight win.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Winburn pitched all seven innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Maddie Fife went 2-for-3 with a double.
Kristen Luzon had a pinch hit RBI single.
Sydney Shaffer went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Julia Boyet went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Katie Scheivert went 1-for-3.
Sofia Hollingsworth had a pinch hit single.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Winurn threw a perfect first inning, then stranded two runners on in the second.
Delaware scored their first run in the second. Boyet led off the inning with a single and reached second before scoring on an error.
Winburn followed that up with perfect third and fourth innings.
The Blue Hens added a run in the fourth with two outs. Fife doubled before Anaya Troy pinch ran for her. Luzon then pinch hit and had an RBI single to score Troy.
Winburn stranded a leadoff double in the fifth, picking up two strikeouts.
Winburn finished the night off with perfect sixth and seventh innings, sealing the win for Delaware.

GAME NOTES

Winburn recorded her 18th win of the season, a new career-best. She has tied Kiersten Coffman (2016) and Carolynn Sloat (2004) for third most in a season all-time. She is two away from tying the single-season program record of 20 set by Susan Dugan in 2000.
Winburn's complete game was her 13th of the season, the 49th of her career, and her eighth straight in games she has started. Her 49th complete game passed Cheryl Richino for sixth most in program history.
Fife is hitting .375./.455/.625 since Feb. 25 with five doubles, a span of 24 games. She has six multi-hit games over that stretch.
Scheivert has a hit in nine of her last 11 games, hitting .353 over that stretch.
Luzon is 10-for-16 (.625) as a pinch hitter this season and has pinch hits and RBIs in her last three chances.
Hollingsworth hit was her first at home.
Delaware has four shutouts in their last nine games and two straight. They also had back-to-back shutouts on March 1 and 3 against Maine and Fairfield.
