Baseball Defeats Towson In Game One of Weekend Series

TOWSON, Md. - The University of Delaware baseball team defeated Coastal Athletic Association foe Towson by a score of 9-7 on Friday.Â
With the win, the Blue Hens overall record improved to 21-19 and conference record to 9-7.Â
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Eric Ludman led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 and drove in two runs. Additional Blue Hens with multiple hits are Aaron Graeber (2-for-5), Aiden Stewart (2-for-5, HR, RBI), and Brett Lesher (2-for-4).

Starting on the mound was Doug Marose. The junior went six innings, allowed five runs, four of which were earned, off five hits and struck out one batter. In relief in Eli Atiya. He pitched the final three innings, allowed two earned runs off three hits, and struck out two batters. Atiya was credited with the win and is 4-2 on the season. Both Atiya and Marose didn't allow a walk.

After the Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the third, the Blue Hens responded with runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.Â

In the fifth, Ludman drove in a run off a single and Bryce Greenly brought in a run on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded. In the sixth, Ludman drove in his second run of the game off another single. In the seventh, Andrew Amato hit a sacrifice fly and Chris Dengler drove in a run off a double. The game was tied at 5-5 headed into the eighth

The Blue Hens kept rolling on offense as Greenly drove in his second run of the game off a double, and Aaron Graeber added two more in the inning. An Aiden Stewart home run in the top of the ninth made it 9-6 and put the game out of reach.
