Offensive Surge Leads Baseball to 15-8 Win Over Towson

TOWSON, Md. - The University of Delaware baseball team took game two of a three game series against Towson by a score of 15-8 on Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Hens overall record improved to 22-19 and a Coastal Athletic Association record of 10-7.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Aiden Stewart led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth and a triple. Stewart, along with Brett Lesher (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) had multiple hits.
Starting on the mound was Ethan Shaub. The junior went three innings, allowed three earned runs off five hits, walked two and struck out one batter. In relief was Tyler Strechay. He pitched the final six innings, allowed five earned runs off 10 hits, struck out four batters and walked one. He was credited with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Hens recorded runs in each of the first five innings.
In the first, UD got on the board off a balk from the Tigers pitcher. The Blue Hens put up five runs in the second inning with an RBI single from Lesher, a three run home run from Eric Ludman and a solo home run from Andrew Amato. Joey Loynd hit a sacrifice fly in the third and gave the Blue Hens a 7-0 lead.
The Tigers struck back with three runs in the bottom of the third, UD added four runs in the fourth with a two run double from Lesher, an RBI single from Bryce Greenly, and a Tigers fielding error that scored Jackson Tyre.
Tyler Leach hit a two run home run in the top of the fifth to extend the Blue Hen lead to 13-4.
