No. 57 Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls on Senior Day to NJIT

NEWARK, Del. – No. 57 University of Delaware men's tennis fell short after a long battle against NJIT on Saturday evening, 4-2. Prior to the match, UD recognized the graduating class of Udayan Bhakar, Nicholas Gore, Javier Ruiz, Nikolaj Talimaa, and Ids Waterbolk.
UD moves to a 14-2 record and NJIT advances to 14-5.
ON THE RECORD
"I'm very disappointed in today's loss," Head Men's Tennis Coach Marc Pibernat said. "As a coach I take full responsibility for today's result because we went down the same way we did vs UNCW where in some matches we did not believe that we could beat our opponent.
We will go back to work on Monday harder than ever to prepare for our match vs Morgan State on Wednesday."

- With a pair of 6-2 decisions at number one and three doubles, Delaware took an early 1-0 lead.
- Tobey Lock rose above the intensity of his singles match and won in the third set.
- Bhakar fought to the end of his singles match, forcing a tiebreaker set, but ultimately came up short.
- Delaware showed some perseverance as three of the four singles losses forced a third set.
