Men's Lacrosse Set for Semifinal Bout with Fairfield

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team is set for its fifth consecutive CAA Championship tournament appearance as the No. 2-seeded Blue Hens square off against the three-seeded Fairfield Stags in the CAA Semifinals on Thursday, May 2. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record, going 6-1 in CAA action with the Blue Hens' only loss being to Towson.
- The Hens went 3-2 at home and 5-1 on the road this season.
- UD leads the nation in least amount of turnovers per game at 12.75.
- The Blue Hens are ranked second in both man-up offense scoring percentage (.576) and scoring defense (8.75).
- Delaware is ranked seventh in scoring margin at 4.42 and ninth in saves per game at 13.75.
- Senior goaltender Kevin Ellington leads the country in save percentage and was named the 2024 CAA Defensive Player of the Year.
- Ellington leads the CAA in both goals against average (8.93) and save percentage.
- The Hens had eight All-CAA players in total, the most of any CAA team.
- JP Ward joined Ellington on the First Team while Mike Robinson, Aidan Fritz, Reed Kurtz, and Matt Mongomery were all named Second Team.
- Freshmen Louie Atkinson and John McCurry were named to the All-Rookie team.
ABOUT THE STAGS
- Fairfield enters Thursday's semifinal contest with an 8-6 overall record and finished conference play at 5-2.
- The Stags ended the regular season on a three-game win streak defeating Monmouth and Stony Brook back-to-back 11-10 in both games before drubbing Hampton 18-8.
- Bryce Ford was fourth in the conference in goals per game at 2.64 as the Stags averaged 11.21 goals per game as a team, the fifth best mark in the CAA.
- Ford was named Second Team All-CAA.
- Julian Radossich was named the conference's Rookie of the Year and garnered a spot on both the First Team and the All-Rookie team.
- Will Consoli joined Radossich as Fairfield's two First Teamers.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Blue Hens lead the all-time series 10-5.
- Delaware took the last meeting between the two squads 14-6 earlier this season on the road.
- The Hens extended their winning streak over the Stags to seven in a row.
- Delaware has not lost to the Stags since April of 2017.
Thursday's winner will take on either Towson or Drexel on Saturday, May 4 at 3 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. The Blue Hens look to become the first CAA three-peat champions since Towson won back-to-back-to-back championships from 2015 to 2017.
