BOSTON – University of Delaware ice hockey freshman forward Katelynn Charlton has been named the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the first-ever weekly award for the program and recognizes Charlton's performance in UD's series against Holy Cross this past weekend.
Charlton paced the Fightin' Blue Hens with three goals over the two games against the Crusaders. She became Delaware's first-ever multi-goal scorer as she found the back of the net twice on Saturday. She then scored the eventual game-winning goal midway through the second period on Sunday. It was UD's first power play goal and provided the difference in Delaware's 2-1 victory, the first win in program history.
Through four games, Charlton leads the Blue Hens in scoring with three goals and four points and has recorded a team-high 17 shots on goal.
