NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware's Chloe Blantz recorded the 100th hit of her career during the Blue Hens' game against Morgan State on Friday, February 28 as UD shutout the Bears before falling to Syracuse.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS VS MORGAN STATE

Josie Crossman threw a three-hit shutout with five strikeouts.
Kristen Luzon hit a two-run pinch hit double.
Gianna Costaro and Blantz went 1-for-3. Blantz also scored a run.
Morgan Hess, Mary Beth Cahalan, and Graceyn Frost.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS MORGAN STATE

Crossman worked out of a third and third jam in the first, as Cahalan picked off a runner at third to end the inning.
Crossman again escaped trouble in the second by stranding the bases loaded, and recording strikeouts in the third and fourth inning.
Delaware broke out in the fourth inning with four runs. The Hens loaded the bases after singles by Costaro and Blantz and a walk from Cahalan. An error by Morgan State brought in Blantz and Hess, who reached on a fielder's choice. Luzon then pinch hit and had a two-run double to score Frost and Cahalan.
Crossman threw a perfect fifth with another strikeout, and had another scoreless sixth.
In the seventh, Crossman had a strikeout and two groundouts to end the game and give Delaware their first home win.

GAME NOTES

Crossman became the first freshman to pitch a shutout since Delani Sheehan on April 21, 2021 against Villanova.
Blantz joined Scheivert and Cahalan as Delaware players to record 100 career hits this season.
